The key to hip-hop music is the fluidity of language, so the title of a hip-hop enthusiast will vary, especially depending on subculture. Some folks who enjoy the type of underground hip-hop that I do call themselves 'backpack heads,' referring to an aesthetic choice. 'Heads' is a somewhat dated expression that applies to most hip-hop subcultures.
