Subject: Rudeness of upper class
Question: add to Watch List | reply
I worked for a 'fast-food' restaraunt for much of my high school career. I want to know why people who visibly look like a member of the 'upper' class are so incredibly rude.

BECAUSE MAJORITY OF THEM ARE RAISED TO THINK THEY ARE ABOVE OTHERS FOR EXAMPLE SOMEONE WORKING IN A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT.

As a massage therapist, I deal with this alot Scott. I work at an upper class fitness center in New Hampshire. I have worked with these people for a while and I know how to play their game. Here is a little secret about wealthy peopee. Most of them are very miserable. All they do is work. And when they are not working they are getting plastic sugeries or advanced skin care treatments. Alot is expected of them by their peers. Therefore there is alot of pressure. and pressure eqalls stress. Stress turns to anger. And guess who they are going to take their anger out on? Yep The lower class people who are serving them

Lower class people can look and act upper class and upper class people don't have to make their status visibly evident. Either way, such people are acting as if they are more important than everyone else becuase they are afraid of being judged as a ordinary or a failure in the eyes of society. They put on a flashy facade to sway the public opinion. Those people might say that looking high class is a matter of personal pride, but their 'pride' is for puplic display and there's generaly no reason to care about what complete strangers think about you.

I think these people imagine they are entitled to special treatment. It doesn't excuse their rudeness by any means.

You are probably encountering jerks trying to apper 'upper class', by thier labels they flash, the sunglasses you see and the fake knock offs Rolex, ect, or maby even real watches they can't really afford. The bad behavior or snobbish attitude is usually the give away that they really are not from a well educated, socially trained, confident social class. Most adult, what I consider upper class individuals are not rude, crast,or impolite and don't waste thier hard earned wealth on overpriced physical trappings that most people associate with wealth. Upper class is not about the total net worth of a person,or that individuals i.q. I has more to do about how that person was brought up to think about themselves, thier place in society and thier relationship, behavior and roles in life. There are great success stories and miseralble failures in that class just like any other. Somehow our culture seems to be too focused on the 'Rich and Famous', who are not the 'upper class' people that I am describing. I doubt you or anyone else for that matter are able to recognize 90% of the real 'upper class' millionairs who come into your store. Most won't even describe themselves as 'upper class'. Don't trust your eyes, few will be wearing a Rolex or $200.00 sunglasses or large diamond rings. The best clues are people who seem ordinary, unassuming, quiet but friendly and normally always conclud the transaction with a thank you. Remember the size of the bank account does not earn one the status of 'upper class', there are a lot of Beverly Hill Billies in the world, they are just not as obvious as 'Jethro',they wear different clothes and speak with a different dialect and act like 'jerks' thinking this is the way rich people are supposed to act. They confuse money with education and social skills.

Because they imagine they're better than you. I worked (briefly) for a very wealthy man in the KC area when I first moved here. He was one of the most miserable, judgemental, spiteful, nasty rat-bastards I have ever known, and firmly believed his money conveyed upon him special dispensation to pass judgement on everyone 'beneath' him.

They might think that since they're paying money, that they don't have to pay workers respect.
